Why I wrote this book:

For a few years now I’ve been so big on personal growth, I just love the idea of improving myself everyday which has a positive knock on to others around me. In the last year in particular I’ve really focused on what my goals are and looked at ways to achieve them. I’ve faced so many challenges and still do as I continue to grow. I am such a strong believe that I have a purpose and value to give to the world, whether that is my books, speaking or coaching. I believe everyone has this too. Therefore I wanted to share this to help people too.

I share my own experiences, stories and tips throughout the book so people can relate. Then really think about what they want, strive to get it and enjoy the journey in looking at their goals.

Why I wrote this book:

I wrote the first book of this sequel My Unreal Real World at a request from a friend, I decided when writing that first book that there was more of a story to tell about Callum. Callum’s perspective as a teenager needed to be shown to people and his battle in life with borderline personality disorder, where many more challenges are faced in those years. Having educated myself on borderline personality disorder from my friend’s initial request I wanted to use another fictional story to educate more people on awareness around borderline personality disorder.

Why I wrote this book:

I wrote this book following a request from a friend. My friend unfortunately has experience of the mental health disorder so requested that I write a story to highlight awareness in this. I felt privileged that someone was asking me to write a book for them. I therefore used my imagination combined with lots of research to convey a character at a young age with borderline personality disorder. Borderline personality disorder tends not to be diagnosed until people are in their twenties, so because of this I show early symptoms in the character who is not officially diagnosed at the age of ten. I decided to focus on the first-person perspective so the reader could also relate to the main character and begin to understand what he is going through.

Why I wrote this book:

The title of this book actually came to me before the planning of the story. Previously I have been called a perfectionist myself and sometimes that can actually be more harming than good. Perfection is something nobody can actually achieve despite how great they may be and as a result can cause negative self-image. It is great to have high standards but nobody is perfect. I therefore wanted to write a story around the theme of perfection in an adventurous story.

Why I wrote this book:

This was my second book to follow the enjoyment I had from writing my first. I wanted to demonstrate how strong and important friendship could be through three friends who are different but work together in a dangerous situation. I wanted to create a different world and use my imagination to create an unpredictable story and to explore an alternative reality. Again, when I was younger I used to look around the school playground and wonder on what was outside the school and the fields all around. So exploring ideas made me come to the idea of a whole alternative reality world of school.

Why I wrote this book:

This was my first book and what an experience it was to write. I decided to start with a children’s fiction fantasy story as I always enjoyed those type of stories when I was younger and I wanted to create an imaginary world. The idea of a lamppost came from my childhood where as a young boy frequently I would often look at the lamppost outside my house and wonder if it was ever going to absorb me into it. I had quite a strange few dreams of that happening! Many years later I have focused a story on this.
